The author's attention to historical detail is exemplary, creating an authentic and immersive sense of place and time. The characters range from quietly sensitive and reluctant to openly gritty and resilient, each drawn with depth and realism. Together, they transport the reader wholeheartedly into another world, making the story both compelling and memorable. A richly researched and beautifully crafted read.

Well written and very effective supernatural novel

Ideal for those of us tired of the usual supernatural tropes of violence and shock. This is an atmospheric, slow burning, well written, and very effective paranormal linking of the 1960s and the late nineteenth century. Set in the English city of Nottingham and a well-researched Victorian past, this novel sticks in the mind and gets under the skin, unlike so many others of its genre. Recommended.

A unique paranormal inspired historical thriller

This thriller is a superbly written intimate view into two different time periods in Nottingham. The premise is enthralling and I was engaged to the last word. The character's reactions to potentially paranormal goings-on are both relatable and hair raising.

Dramatic tour de force

Whether you remember the Swinging Sixties with fondness or have a passion for Victorian history, both dovetail together in this dramatic and fast-paced novel by Michael Christopher. Based on the life of the protagonist Arthur Campion, a reluctant psychic who gradually comes to terms with his powers of extra-sensory perception, the story takes the reader through layers of lived experience in the city of Nottingham. Alternating between two distinctive styles, the mellifluous prose that takes us on Arthur’s journey contrasts dramatically with the punchy, earthy story at the dark Victorian heart of the novel. For anyone familiar with Nottingham, many of the places named are based on existing streets, buildings and locations that should be familiar. ‘Disturbing Time’ successfully highlights the imprints left on the living by those who travelled before them, channelled through the sensitive souls who are drawn into re-living the past. This novel is a tour de force from Michael Christopher and much to be recommended.

Brilliant Novel

This was such a brilliantly written and entertaining read. I don't normally read supernatural themed novels but this one sounded interesting and I'm so glad that I did. From the very first page the author's writing had me hooked and I kept reading until the end as I wanted to know what happened. The story was brilliantly written, well paced and had a great cast of characters. It's obvious that the author has done their research for the book as the attention to detail was spot on. Overall a brilliant novel that I highly recommend to other readers. I look forward to reading more by the author.
